English short story III

[size=3]A couple[夫妇] drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. [/size]
[size=3]An earlier discussion[讨论] had led to an argument[吵架] and neither of them wanted to concede[让步] their position[立场]. [/size]
[size=3]As they passed a barnyard[牧场] of mules[骡], goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically[挖苦], [/size]
[size=3]"Relatives[亲戚] of yours?" [/size]
[size=3]"Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws[姻亲]."
